Once you've taken the time to set your SMART goals, you now have concrete objectives on which to focus your attention. You can put your conscious and subconscious minds to work in the achievement of your dreams. Adapting an attitude of success is a foundation of establishing positive work habits.
Yet, many times both our conscious and subconscious minds seem to sabotage us as they focus on obstacles and fears rather than opportunities and successes. Where is your mind focused? Do you have an attitude of success? If you are a student of personal growth, you're probably aware of the effects your mind and attitude have on your goals. You may have read books by authors like Napoleon Hill, Wayne Dyer, and T. Harv Eker who all show how powerful our thoughts are in creating our reality.
Or you may have seen the movie "The Secret." If so, you've seen testimony to the amazing power of your mind. It's not a secret any more, as millions of people have become aware of how their thoughts, beliefs, perceptions, and attitudes affect their results in life. Isn't it liberating to know you have the power to overcome your obstacles and fears and achieve success-just by becoming the master of your mind?
So how do you harness this power to create the life of your dreams rather than your worst nightmares? The first step is to become clear about what you want by setting SMART goals. Adapting an attitude of success means focusing on these goals in the face of obstacles, distractions, setbacks, and fears-or whatever is thrown into your path that might look like it's keeping you from achieving your desired results. Adapting an attitude of success also means adjusting your perspective to see these obstacles as learning experiences. In reality, your perspective is all that truly matters. Take 10 people with the same challenges, and each will put a different spin on them. So why not choose the perspective that supports you rather than the one that disables you?
Choosing a positive attitude about your fears also affords you tremendous opportunities for growth. As you face your fears, you move past your comfort zone, beyond your previous limits, and no longer allow your fears to hold you back. One fear may be all that's been keeping you from the success you've always dreamed of.
Use any method you can to adjust your attitude. Read books, attend seminars, or work with a coach. Surround yourself with a community of positive people. My goal is that you become empowered by knowing you can choose your thoughts and attitudes to achieve success. With your attitude of success in place, it's time to establish a plan & take effective action.
