Louvain-la-Neuve anno1970. A 'Pedestrian City' erected on a virtually uncultivated valley of 900 ha in the province of Brabant-Walloon, Belgium. Undulating relief on the one hand and the dominating modernistic principles on the other hand, have conducted that an enormous concrete slab "la dalle" became the basic for a new city. The "dalle" became both the roof of the 'underground' car and train traffic and the platform for a pedestrian town centre, which would incorporate seamlessly in the neighboring natural landscape. The oil crisis and accompanied financial bleeding however have disturbed the anticipated pace of matter thoroughly. With only part of the work completed, the "dalle" remained waiting during dacades, waiting for continuation. Tutors: Adam Nathaniel Furman and Karel Wuytack
