The construction of the Tomb began in 1970 and ended in 1978, the year of the death of Carlo Scarpa. [...] I would like to explain this work...I consider this work, if you permit me, to be rather good and which will get better over time. I have tried to put some poetic imagination into it, though not in order to create poetic architecture but to make a certain kind of architecture that could emanate a sense of formal poetry.... [...] (Carlo Scarpa, Vienna - 1976) At the Brion Cemetery a common entrance leads to a crossroads: two ways to meditate, the first one fits all, is suggested by a shifted staircase, follow it means a journey which has as eyes the heart and as scenery the death's of parents memory (the Arc - Arcosolium) and relatives (the Chapel) and the community (the Church).
